2009 Summer Program Schedule
The Kaler’s Pond Audubon Center will be hosting a series of programs every Sunday, June through August. Hikes, sing-a-longs, arts & crafts, and special guests are all part of the fun. Programs will run from 1:00 - 2:00 every afternoon, and are free for attending parents. Learn neat new things, have fun outdoors, and get excited about nature with Kaler’s Pond Audubon!

7/5 - 1:00PM
What’s Inside

Let’s take a walk into the homes of some of our local wildlife. What goes on inside a bee hive or a rabbit hole? Let’s find out. All Ages! $3.00 per child.

7/12 - 1:00PM
Seine Netting

Together, we will build a big freshwater aquarium, just from the critters we catch in the pond. We just might find some tadpoles, snails, turtles, clams, and who knows what else. Don’t forget your water shoes! All Ages! $3.00 per child.

7/19 - 1:00PM
Pine Cone Feeders

Learn which birds live in your backyard and make some food to attract them. Pine cones covered in seeds make delicious snacks for our feathered friends, and are a lot of fun to make. Once they are done we can hang them in the nature trails, and wait for the birds to come and enjoy! All Ages! $3.00 per child.

Sunday - July 26 - 1:00PM
Creepy Crawlies

You will be amazed at what kinds of little bugs we can find lurking under rocks and logs in the woods around the pond. We will undoubtedly find spiders, roley poleys, plenty of worms, and maybe even some salamanders. What are they so busy doing all day down in the dark? All Ages! $3.00 per child.

Saturday - August 1 - 1:00PM
Butterfly Workshop

Catch, identify, and release our local winged friends. We’ll discover a bit about these creatures, and answer questions like, how do you tell a moth from a butterfly? Afterwards, we will be making our own butterfly magnets for you to take home. All Ages!  $3.00 per child.

Sunday - August 2 - 1:00PM
Scavenger Hunt!

Always a classic, but if I told you what you were going to be looking for, then it wouldn’t be as good! K-5.  $3.00 per child.

Sunday - August 9 - 1:00PM
Seine Netting

Too much fun to only do once... We will build a big freshwater aquarium, just from the critters we catch in the pond. We just might find sunfish, frogs, killies, and who knows what else. Again, don’t forget your water shoes! All Ages!  $3.00 per child.
